2020-2021 SCHOOL-YEAR

Happy Hall School (HHS) has been working closely with the Millbrae School District (MSD) to develop childcare and online learning support based on the current bell schedule. Please note, bell schedule may change prior to Wednesday, August 26.

SCHEDULES & TUITION

We understand that paying for full-day care during the school year is an unexpected expense. Additionally, running a program that implements best practices, and follows local, state, and federal health and safety guidelines, incurs additional expenses. We did our best to determine a fair and equitable rate for both our families and teachers.

  • Technical support (login, password creation, video conferencing, etc.)

  • Access to high-speed Wi-Fi. Happy Hall cannot guarantee that Wi-Fi will be up 100% of the time; however, our provider, Comcast, is very reliable.

  • We will do our best to assist with asynchronous work; however, it is ultimately up to the parent to assist their children with any learning that requires prolonged one-on-one support.

SCHOOL TEACHER - CHILDCARE TEACHER PARTNERSHIPS

Your child’s teacher will provide Happy Hall with their classroom schedule, required materials, access to your child’s Google Classroom, and other online resources needed to support your child.

GENERAL PROGRAM INFO & POLICIES

RECREATION & ENRICHMENT

  • Once online learning has ended for the day, children will have an opportunity to enjoy additional outdoor time, science, creative arts, SEL activities, and discovery time.

  • Outdoor activities will be prioritized, as they decrease transmission of COVID.

  • Because Happy Hall has been providing care throughout this unique and often challenging time, our teachers have found several activities that children enjoy, while maintaining a physical distance.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS & MATERIALS

Happy Hall is limiting the number of items from home and providing children with individual materials to reduce opportunity for transmission.

Children are permitted to bring:

  • Jacket

  • Hat

  • Water Bottle (water fountains are closed)

  • Online Learning Supplies (Chromebook, chargers, headphones, etc.)

  • Lunch (if not eating lunch provided by MSD)

  • Books

  • Happy Hall is not responsible for missing or damaged items

Happy Hall will provide:

  • Materials caddy to hold learning and enrichment supplies

  • Crate and reusable bag to store belongings

  • Learning and enrichment supplies (markers, rulers, scissors, glue, paper, etc.)

  • Games, toys, cards, books, and other activities that can remain in at their workstation

MEALS

  • Food from home cannot be heated and must be easily opened by your child.

ILLNESS POLICY

  • You must keep your child home if they have a temperature of 101.4 or any other symptoms.

  • If your child is in our care and has a temperature of 101.4 or any other symptoms, you will be called and expected to pick up your child within one hour.

  • Children must be symptom and medication-free for 72 hours prior to returning depending on the symptoms and severity of the symptoms.

  • If a child or household member has symptoms that are consistent with Covid-19 or has been in close contact with a person with symptoms or diagnosed with COVID-19, you must notify us immediately.

MEDICATION

To administer any medication, including over-the-counter items, to your child, State Law Section 101226.e requires that you provide us direction from a doctor and your written authorization on the HHS Medication Authorization Form. Medications are administered at lunchtime only.

PHOTOGRAPHS / VIDEOS: We often take photographs and/or video and use these images in various media for educational and promotional purposes (e.g., website, brochures, newsletters, parent events, professional training, and child observations, etc.).

STUDENT BEHAVIOR: If your child is unable to safely interact or participate in our program, you will be called and requested to pick up your child within one hour. The Director will work with your family to help address any issues.

DISENROLLMENT: If it is in the best interest of the child and/or HHS, we reserve the right to disenroll a child.

COMMUNITY CARE LICENSING: The Community Care Licensing Department has the authority, without parent consent, to conduct interviews with children or staff and to inspect and audit records per State Law Section 101200.b.

OUTSIDE SERVICES: HHS strongly discourages our employees from providing families any services that are not part of our program. HHS does not authorize such services and is not responsible for any acts or omissions of any employee while providing such services.

ARBITRATION: In the event a dispute arises out of or relating to services provided by HHS that cannot be resolved in good faith directly with HHS, all parties (parents, guardians, HHS) agree to participate in mediation by a mutually agreed-upon third party.  In the event that mediation does not resolve the dispute or no third party can be agreed to, then parties agree to participate in binding arbitration governed by the Commercial Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association. Any settlement or award by the arbitrator shall be final and enforceable in any court having jurisdiction over this dispute.

ONGOING CHANGES

These are challenging times and change seems to be happening at a rapid pace and though we so desperately want life to return to normal, we will partner with you to maintain a healthy and safe environment so we all can move forward together. As local guidelines change, we must adapt to meet the needs of the community, and therefore; our policies and procedures will need to change. We will keep you informed of such changes.
