Make Everyday Earth Day

Every year, Earth Day is celebrated on April 22nd and every year people take action to help preserve our planet, not just one day, but throughout the year. Earth Day reminds us on how our lifestyle can affect the world and teaches us how to be a responsible human being. It is never too early to teach children about protecting the Earth and caring for the environment. Below is a list of interactive ways we can practice with our children to help keep our planet clean:

· Planting a tree/Growing vegetables and plants in your yard: Engage children into helping plant trees or vegetables in your garden

· Protect natural wildlife: Remind your children to throw away their garbage and respect all animals who inhabit the earth

· Sorting garbage, recycle, and compost: This is a great hands-on activity that will have your child clean the earth. Have your child help you sort items in the correct bin with labels Garbage, Recycle, and Compost

· Saving energy at home: Remind children to turn the lights off and TV in your home when it is not needed or unplugging unused electronics

· Conserve water: Limit the time in the shower or turning off the water when you brush your teeth

· Build a bird house: This is a fun hands on activity children will enjoy doing to feed the birds

· Read books about Earth Day such as: Earth Day Every Day by Lisa Bullard; The Earth Book by Todd Parr; Recycling is Fun by Charles Ghigna; This is Our World: A Story About Taking Care of the Earth by Emily Sollinger
